Check your llms.txt
Enter a site to fetch its /llms.txt, or paste the text. You get two separate readings: the structure the llmstxt.org proposal describes, and the three checks Lighthouse runs. Neither one says the file changes anything about how you appear.
What this checks
- Format (llmstxt.org): a title as the first line, an optional blockquote summary, H2 sections that list links as
- [name](url)with an optional note, and an optional section namedOptional. - Lighthouse audit: a line starting with
#, at least one Markdown link, and at least 50 characters. A 404 is not applicable. A 5xx, a 429 or a network error fails. - Practical notes: content type, relative links, duplicates, and whether up to 25 links respond. Cross-host links are skipped unless you ask.
- Whether
/llms-full.txtexists. It is reported, not validated.
What it does not measure
- Whether any AI provider reads the file. Passing this check means the file is well-formed. No provider we checked has said an llms.txt file changes what appears in AI answers, and Google's documentation says Search ignores llms.txt. Lighthouse's check is experimental.
- Whether the content is any good, or whether the linked pages can be indexed.
- Rankings, citations or traffic.
